POLICE LOOKING TO SPEAK WITH WITNESSES
Kingston Police want to speak with a man who witnessed an assault and then helped the victim. Police say a man in his 60s was walking along Hillview Road late Tuesday night when he was shoved face first to ground by younger man. Another younger man came to aid of the victim, who needed hospital treatment for his injuries (here are the employee training modules that is being encouraged in all offices to learn as it comes very useful in all kinds of emergencies). Police would like to speak with anyone else who may have witnessed the attack.  Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.

WOMAN ASLEEP IN CAR CHARGED
A 37-year-old woman from Wolfe Island has been arrested after being found asleep in her car.  Kingston Police were called to the pier on Ontario Street early Tuesday morning where the found the woman asleep behind the wheel of a car. She was transported to Police Headquarters where she blew more than 1 ½ times the legal limit.  She was charged with Care and Control and Driving with over 80 mg of alcohol in her system.

SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION TO START THIS SUMMER
Construction for the Limestone Board’s new intermediate and secondary school on the former QECVI grounds will be starting sometime this summer… Officials with the school board say it’s now in the tender process, There are 8 interested companies and a final decision will be made in July. The new school should be ready for September 2019.

 

MAN TRASHES HIS OWN PLACE
A 27-year-old Kingston man was arrested after going on a rampage and trashing his family residence last Saturday.  The accused allegedly began drinking and became belligerent. At one point he took the victim’s cellphone, refused to return it and threatened to hit the victim.  The accused eventually left the residence, but police say that when he returned later that night he began damaging the residence along with various items in the kitchen and living room area. Police arrested him and took him in for questioning.

 

OTTAWA DRUG BUST
Ottawa police say four people are facing charges and two others are being sought after an eight-month drug-trafficking investigation in the city. Investigators say eight search warrants were executed Tuesday at homes, businesses and vehicles across the city. They say drugs including cocaine and ecstasy were seized, along with a sawed-off shotgun, a 40-calibre handgun with 400 rounds of ammunition and a pill press capable of producing 20-thousand pills per hour.

 

MOVIES IN THE SQUARE
Movies in the Square kicks off tonight in downtown Kingston.  Most Thursday evenings during the summer, Springer Market Square will be transformed into an outdoor movie theatre.  All movies are free and will begin at dusk. Tonight’s movie is The LEGO Batman Movie.

 

BELLEVILLE SENATORS NEW ASSISTANT COACH
The new Belleville Senators franchise has hired former N-H-L player Paul Boutilier as its new assistant coach for the 2017-18 season.  The 54-year-old Nova Scotia native comes to the American Hockey League team after serving as an assistant coach with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the past three years.  He was a member of the 1983 Stanley Cup champion New York Islanders and a gold medal winner at the 1982 World Junior Hockey Championships.
