Woman Charged – Stabbing

A 64 year old Kingston man has undergone surgery and is recovering in hospital after being stabbed and police have charged his wife.

A 47 year old Kingston woman was arrested Saturday afternoon after police were called to a Fraser Street apartment building.  She faces charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and two counts of breach of recognizance.

Mini-Series Filming – Kingston Pen

Kingston Penitentiary will become the back drop for a CBC television and Netflix mini-series this week.

King Street will be closed from Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard to Gardeners Street from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. today and tomorrow for filming of a portion of the mini-series Alias Grace.  It’s based on a 1998 Margaret Atwood novel.

The street will be covered with dirt.

King Street will also be closed from William to Earl on Thursday and Friday.

Waste Survey

The city is asking you to complete a survey on garbage collection and waste diversion services.

The survey on the city’s website will set a baseline for measuring Kingston’s future performance.

It’s designed to measure your satisfaction with garbage and recycling collection, solid waste diversion programs and the effectiveness of the city’s education, promotion and communication strategies.

The survey closes on Monday, November 21st.

United Way Update

The United Way campaign in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington has three weeks left to go and over a million dollars to go to reach its goal of $3,451,000.

The campaign thermometer hit just over $2.3 million dollars yesterday…67% of the goal.

Today…Independent Living Kingston is hosting a United Way fund raising chili cook-off from noon to 2pm at 540 Montreal Street.
