Child Pornography Investigation

A 43 year old Kingston man is facing charges including making child pornography and Kingston Police say there may more victims.

Police started their investigation after the mother of a girl complained about comments she received from a man about pictures of her daughter on Facebook.

A search warrant was executed at a Kingston residence on November 13th and the man was arrested.

Robert John Burns has been charged with making child pornography, possessing child pornography, attempting to make arrangements with a person under 16 to commit a sexual offence, luring a child for a purpose of making child pornography, and attempting to make child pornography.

Anyone who has information about Burns being involved with children is being asked to contact Kingston Police.

 

Recount – Howe Island

A recount of the ballots for one of the councillor’s positions on Howe Island will be taking place today.

Noreen MacDougall won the council seat by just three votes over Tim Kirkby in the election on October 22nd.

Kirkby asked for the recount and it will take place today.

 

Napanee Beer Company – Grant

The Napanee Beer Company is getting a five thousand dollar investment from the federal government.

The craft brewery says it will be adding a new canning line and automation equipment to increase production thanks to the grant.

It says it is has a backlog of orders and was facing either turning away business or finding a way to increase output.  It says the five thousand dollars investment is all it needed to make expansion possible.

 

Tree of Hope

Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington is asking you to help give 900 children in the area a good Christmas.

It launched its Tree of Hope campaign last night in Kingston.  About 100 people attended the tree lighting ceremony.  A second ceremony is scheduled for Napanee tonight.
