Charges – Woman Held

 

Three members of a Kingston family have been charged by police after a woman came to Kingston last year to marry a man and basically wound up being held as a hostage.

Police say the woman moved in with the family of the 29 year old man she married and over the next 11 months faced increasing abuse and was threatened with being killed.

The woman eventually got away and contacted a family member in the U-S who came to her rescue in Kingston.

The 29 year old husband, his 52 year old mother and 27 year old brother are facing multiple charges including forcible confinement, assault, and harassment by threatening conduct.

The husband and brother have also been charged with uttering death threats and the mother has been charged with assault with a weapon.

 

OPP – Inmate – Sexual Assault

 

The Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad has charged an inmate at a Kingston are prison following a sexual assault investigation in Loyalist Township.

A news release from the OPP says the 59 year old inmate has been charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual exploitation and sexual assault.

No other information has been released.

 

Kitchen Table Man

 

A 50 year old Kingston man has been charged after being found sitting at the kitchen table of a home.

Kingston Police say a couple heard something in their kitchen and found the man around 4:45 Wednesday afternoon.  After confronting the man he went outside and sat on the front porch.  Police were called and arrested a man a short distance away from the home.  They say he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or both.

 

Impaired – Bancroft

 

A 40 year old Kingston man has been busted for impaired driving in the Town of Bancroft.

The OPP says it stopped a vehicle early last Friday morning and determined the driver had been consuming alcohol.  He has been charged with impaired driving… was given a 90 day drivers licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

 

 

Fibre Optic Network – Utilities Kingston

 

Utilities Kingston says a partnership to build a new fibre optic cable system between Montreal and Toronto will help attract an enterprise-class data center to the Kingston region. It also says new and existing businesses in Kingston will benefit with faster and more reliable broadband connectivity.

Utilities Kingston has partnered with Metro Optic and Crosslake Fibre on the project that will include a submarine cable link from Kingston to Toronto.  Crosslake Fibre is also working on a submarine cable link from Toronto to Buffalo.

 

Kingston – Yachts Visiting

 

Kingston is getting a visit from another luxury yacht.  The 150 foot long Top Five is docked at the Brock Street Wharf.  The nearly 200 foot long Blue Moon visited Kingston earlier this week after being anchored off Sandbanks Provincial Park on the weekend.

There’s been lots of speculation about who is on board the luxury cruisers – but nobody has been able to confirm who is on board or why they’ve stopped in Kingston.
