Flooding Update

Water levels are starting to drop in the Kingston area…

The Front Road bridge is open to traffic and the Glenora Ferry has resumed limited service.

The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority says it expects water levels will continue to drop this week.

But…residents in about half a dozen homes on Marble Rock Road north of Gananoque will likely experience flooding from the Gananoque River.

Officials say if the wet weather continues…Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River will continue to rise…

There is already shoreline flooding and erosion.

The Ministry of Transportation says the Glenora Ferry is only able to carry cars, SUV’s and ½ ton pickup trucks. No large trucks, dual wheel pickup trucks or trailers will be allowed until further notice.

Stabbing – Quinte

There has been trouble at the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee.

An inmate was stabbed on Sunday…several inmates were taken to hospital with what’s believed to be overdoses due to fentanyl…and several staff were also taken to hospital for observation after being exposed to the drug.

Napanee OPP says two inmates have been charged with stabbing another prisoner at Quinte on Sunday.  He required hospitalization after the attack.

26 year old Joshua Searson of Gananoque and 28 year old Eric St. Louis of Napanee have been charged with assault with a weapon.

Robbery – Arrest

A 55 year old Kingston woman has been charged with robbing the Parkway Grocery Store at gunpoint on January 29th.  A person wearing a white clown mask got a quantity of cash from the store and took off.

A news release from Kingston Police says detectives got information from Loyalist OPP last Thursday and arrested the 55 year old woman at an address on Parkway Street on Sunday morning.

Drinker in the Drink

This drunk driver wound up in the drink…

Kingston Police were called to the boat launch at King and West Streets around 9:45 last Thursday night and found the flashing lights of a vehicle that was fully submerged in the water at the end of the ramp.

The driver had been able to get out of the vehicle.

A 24 year old man was taken to police headquarters where he blew one and a half times over the legal limit and was charged with impaired driving.

Man’s Best Friend

Napanee OPP are crediting a dog with helping a wheelchair bound man in Tamworth…about 40 kilometres north of Napanee. Police say they were went to the man’s home on Sunday following a complaint that a dog had been barking for more than five hours.  Officers could still hear the dog barking from outside and could hear a man asking for help when they knocked on the door of the apartment.  When they got inside they found the man had fallen out of his wheelchair and was unable to get up to call for help.  Police say it was the barking dog that saved him…and the man didn’t suffer any injuries.

Sir Elton Returns

Sir Elton John is returning to the Rogers K-Rock Centre.

In case you missed the news yesterday…Elton John and his Band will perform in Kingston on Tuesday, November 14th.  Tickets go on sale Friday morning at 10.
