On January 13th 1968, Johnny Cash recorded what went on to be one of his most Iconic albums, doing a live show for the inmates at Folsom Prison

As the story goes, Johnny Cash had seen a documentary about the prison called “Inside the Walls of Folsom Prison” which was his inspiration to write the now famous tune. The Song “Folsom Prison Blues” was a huge hit with inmates, and Johnny began to receive fan mail from prisoners about the song. A lot of these letters asked him to come play for them at their prisons. Johnny thought this was a great idea, later playing in several prisons in the 1950’s and 60’s
