Carrie is the daughter of Hollywood star Debbie Reynolds and is best known for her role as ‘Princess Leia’ in the original Star Wars trilogy. Reynolds has since released a statement regarding her daughter’s death via Facebook,

She would later appear in some classic 1980s movies such as The Blues Brothers, The Man With One Red Shoe and the classic movie When Harry Met Sally; she reprised her role ‘Princess Leia’ in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

As you can imagine, the reaction has been quick and swift on social media from Star Wars actors and other celebrities. Below is just a sample of some of the reaction.

Harrison Ford released a statement to E! News saying,  “Carrie was one-of-a-kind…brilliant, original. Funny and emotionally fearless. She lived her life, bravely.” As he grieves the loss of his co-star, Harrison said his thoughts are with her daughter, Billie Lourd, her mom, Debbie Reynolds, her brother, Todd Fisher, and “her many friends. We will all miss her.”

George Lucas also told E! News, “Carrie and I have been friends most of our adult lives. She was extremely smart; a talented actress, writer and comedienne with a very colorful personality that everyone loved. In Star Wars she was our great and powerful princess—feisty, wise and full of hope in a role that was more difficult than most people might think. My heart and prayers are with Billie, Debbie and all Carrie’s family, friends and fans. She will be missed by all.”
