George – Conflict – Apology

Kingston city councillor Kevin George will issue an official apology tonight over his involvement in a dispute with residents who were opposed to a housing project in Westbrook.

An integrity commissioner hired by the city has found George had a conflict of interest because he worked for a company doing surveys on the project and didn’t reveal the conflict.

George criticized residents for their concerns about secondary rental units in the new homes and refused to apologize.  The integrity commissioner recommends no further action on the matter.

It will be up to city council to decide if an apology is good enough.

Man Charged – Assault

Wild Parsnip Warning

Wild Parsnip has been found growing in the Kingston area.

A listener reports large patches in the area of Bath and Armstrong Roads and sprouting in roadside ditches.

The sap from the plant can cause serious burns on your skin that destroy the cells and skin.  The rash, or burn, is also light sensitive.  So, exposure to the sun activates it and makes it worse.

The tall yellow flowered weed is something to avoid.
