The holiday weekend continues for a lot of people in Kingston.

It is a school and a holiday for employees with the city of Kingston.

Garbage and recycling collection normally scheduled for today will take place on Tuesday and collection moves to a day after your normal day for the rest of the week.

Kingston Transit is operating on its normal schedule.

Amherstview – Death/Charges

A 19 year old woman from Amherstview remains in jail following the death of a man she is charged with assaulting at their home last week.

Police were called to a family dispute at a home in Amherstview around 10 p.m. last Tuesday.

46 year old Randall Clayton Brockwell was transported to hospital with serious injuries and later died.

Hannah Victoria Brockwell has been charged with aggravated assault.

She has a court appearance in Napanee scheduled for tomorrow.

Posts on social media say Hannah Brockwell was the man’s daughter.

Crash – Power Outage

Nobody was seriously injured when a car hit a utility pole on John F. Scott Road.

The crash took place around 10 a.m. yesterday between Highway 15 and Middle Road. It knocked out power to about a thousand customers east of Kingston.

The four people in the car were treated and released and power was restored by early yesterday afternoon.

Sunshine List – Kingston

Hundreds of people in Kingston have made it onto the provinces sunshine list – the list of people who earn $100,000 or more.

The top paid Municipal employee is Kingston’s Chief Administrative Officer, Gerard Hunt.

Police officers and firefighters make up the majority of city employees on the list.

Former Kingston General Hospital President and Chief Executive Officer Leslee Thompson was the highest paid government employee in Kingston last year…earning a total of more than 527 thousand dollars in salary and expenses. Thompson is now the CEO of Accreditation Canada.
