Arrest – Shoppers Robbery

A tip from the public has helped Kingston Police track down a suspect in a drug store robbery.

A 37 year old man was arrested late Sunday morning.

He has been charged with robbing the Shoppers Drug Mart at 1875 Bath Road just after 8:30 Saturday morning.

Police say a man had demanded prescription medication from the pharmacy and got away with a quantity of prescription drugs.

Kingston Fire

Kingston Fire and Rescue is reminding people to blow out all candles before leaving a room following a fire on Sunday.

A bed caught fire in a residence on the 300 block of Earl Street.

Nobody was injured in the fire around 6:00 p.m., Sunday.

The cause was a candle that had been left unattended.

Amherstview Fire

Nobody was injured in a fire at a housing unit in Amherstview.

The fire started in the kitchen of one of the units at 156 Amherst Drive around 6:45 Saturday night.

It was put out by a neighbour with a handheld fire extinguisher.

Fire crews made sure the fire was completely extinguished and ventilated smoke from the unit.

People were able to get back into their homes after about an hour.

SLC – Business Competition

Students in the School of Business at St. Lawrence College have placed second in the Western Canadian Business Competition.

The team place second for best overall team performance at the competition in Kelowna, B-C.

The team also brought home Gold Medals for Chief Marketing Officer, Best Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Human Resources Officer in the Senior category.

Wolfe Islander

Spring officially arrived yesterday and today the Wolfe Island Ferry started using the dock in Marysville.

The ferry has been using the winter dock at Dawson Point until its first run at 5:45 this morning.
