Motel Arrests

A Kingston Police officer pulled his gun and another used a Taser to subdue a man at a motel Saturday night.

They were called to the motel on Princess Street near Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard following a noise complaint.

Police say the man lunged almost hit an officer in the face with a large garden tool.  That’s when another officer pulled his gun and the man was subdued with a Taser.

The 50 year old has been charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest

 

At the same time as officers were dealing with that situation…management at a nearby hotel called police about a violent guest.

Police say a man had threated the manager and shoved him repeatedly.

A 51 year old from Dorval, Quebec has been charged with assault, mischief and breach of probation.

Suspect Identified

Kingston Police believe they’ve identified a woman who forged a prescription for the powerful painkiller Fentanyl and got the prescription filled on February 29th.

Police have received several tips from the public after releasing a picture of the suspect.

Detectives are now attempting to locate the suspect.

Frulact – Jobs

The Portuguese company that is opening a factory in Kingston is advertising for employees.

The ACFOMI Employment Service held information sessions yesterday for people interested in working at the Frulact Group plant.  It will be creating about 40 jobs to start with and is currently advertising to fill positions in areas including management, human resources, sales, research and production.

Inmate Death

An inmate has died at Millhaven maximum security.  44-year-old Gordon Craig was found unresponsive in his cell at Millhaven on Sunday.  A news release from the Correctional Service says staff performed CPR and paramedics were called but the prisoner couldn’t be resuscitated.  Craig had been serving more than 11-years for offences including dangerous driving, assaulting a peace officer and escaping custody.

Pot Seized – Joyceville

An inmate at Joyceville Institution is facing charges after correctional officers seized 58 grams of marijuana.

A news release says the seizure was the result of combined efforts of officers, the detector dog team and security intelligence officers.

The 58 grams of pot would have been worth about $5,800 inside the institution.

Kingston – Scuba Diving

Canadian scuba divers have chosen Kingston as one of the five best scuba diving sites in Canada according to the online publication…Scuba Diver Life.

It says Kingston offers great deep and intermediate diving with ship wrecks that have been well preserved.

The four other locations on the top five list are Brockville; Barkley Sound, British Columbia; Tobermory, Ontario and Bell Island, Newfoundland.
