Voyeurism Charge

A 19-year-old Kingston man is facing a voyeurism charge after police say several women were secretly video-taped while undressing at a home in Toronto.

Police say they were contacted last month after personal possessions of two female housemates were found in the man’s bedroom, along with what appeared to be video recording devices.

A police search turned up video believed to have been taken last summer in a Toronto home, showing seven women in various stages of undress.

Police say all the women live in the Greater Toronto Area and have no known connection to Kingston.

Wi-Fi – School Board/Cogeco

It’s a Wi-Fi world – but the union representing Limestone District School Board high school teachers says it is concerned about the use of Wi-Fi in schools.

The Limestone local president of the OSSTF, Andrea Loken, made a presentation at the school board meeting last night.  She referred a reported saying it has been found to cause DNA damage.  She also says there is no research that proves Wi-Fi is safe.

School board chair David Jackson says the concerns of parents and teachers will be taken into consideration and the board will be getting a report on the use of technology later this month.

While the teachers union raises a red flag over Wi-Fi…Cogeco has announced it has established a network of about 100 Wi-Fi hotspots in Kingston.  Access is free for Cogeco internet customers.  The hotspots cover core areas of Kingston including Princess Street, Queen Street and Ontario Street.

Time Change

It’s the time change weekend.

Clocks move forward an hour for Daylight Savings time on Sunday.

Kingston Fire and Rescue says it is a good time to change batteries in smoke alarms and CO detectors.

Director of Fire Prevention Paul Patry says the detectors should also be replaced at least every 10 years.
