MORE BAD WEATHER
It could be another icy day around Kingston.  Environment Canada has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory at least for the morning.   That means slippery roads, sidewalks and parking lots.  This comes after a blast of winter that rocked the region yesterday.  OPP  say slippery  conditions  due to freezing rain are partly to blame for a collision between a BMW and two transport trucks yesterday afternoon. Shortly after 3:30pm a female lost control of the car she was driving, spinning out and hit the two trucks. She was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The accident brought about delays on the 401  westbound between Joyceville road and highway 15 four about an hour.  The poor weather and road conditions were to blame for several collisions, fender benders and ditched vehicles.

SNOW SHOVELING SAFETY
Paramedics in our region received a record amount of calls for service Tuesday morning from people in stress — after shoveling driveways and sidewalks. Frontenac paramedics responded to six emergency calls. All 6 people were taken to hospital for monitoring and further examinations.  The deputy chief with Frontenac paramedics says those over the age of 40 are most at risk for over-exertion. They’re cautioning people to know your limitations and physical capabilities while shoveling snow.

MISSING PERSON BELLEVILLE
Belleville police are asking for your help to locate a missing teenager. Tyler Baker was last seen early Tuesday morning at his home on lake court. The 16 year old is about six feet tall and weighs almost 150 pounds. He has long, dark hair which is shaved at the sides. Anyone with information on Baker’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.

CORRECTIONAL STAFF POSSIBLE STRIKE
Ontario’s 6-thousand correctional staff could soon be on the picket line. OPSEU, the union representing jail guards and parole officers, has been locked in a contract stalemate with the province for several weeks.  Today, the ministry of labour issued a “no board” report — which means the unionized workers will be in a legal strike or lockout position as of January 10. In addition to a pay increase, OPSEU is asking the province to address workplace safety concerns and overcrowding.  Issuing the no-board report doesn’t prevent negotiations from continuing — but no new talks are planned.

BLOOD DONOR CLINIC TODAY
If you’re looking for something to do today, why not give the gift of life. Canadian Blood Services is holding a blood donor clinic today at their Gardiners Road location from 1pm until 7pm.  You don’t need an appointment and new donors are more than welcome.

WINNING LOTTERY TICKET PURCHASED IN KINGSTON
