Storm – Wind Warning

The wind didn’t develop yesterday but Kingston did get 43 millimeters of rain.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for today.

It says southwest winds of 30 to 50 km/h will increase to 60 with gusts of up to 90 km/h by early this afternoon.

Conditions will improve by tomorrow as the fall storm moves into Quebec.

Death – Body Found

The coroner is now in charge of the investigation after the body of a man was discovered in Lake Ontario at Confederation Basin.

The body was spotted in the water at the foot of Johnson Street at 5:10 p.m. yesterday.

Emergency services found the man face down in the water near the docks.

Police are treating it as a sudden death and don’t believe any foul play was involved.

They haven’t released the name of the man.

Mother – New Charge

A 20 year old woman is facing an additional charge after being arrested by Kingston Police earlier this month for assaulting her 21 month old daughter.

The woman has now been charged with failing to provide the necessities of life to the girl.

She was originally charged with aggravated assault after police were contacted by Kingston General Hospital on October 11th.  The girl was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital in Ottawa with life threatening injuries.The experienced DUI attorney is now appointed for this case to conduct a detailed investigation to find out the true motive of this woman and her activities.

Shoplifter Arrested

A woman was arrested in Brockville after she dropped her purse after being chased out of the Shoppers Drug Mart at 1201 Division Street by security.

It happened October 18th.

Security tried to stop the woman but she jumped into a car that was waiting with a male driver.

The problem – dropped her purse.

It contained some costume jewelry, identification and a cell phone that allowed police to track her down.

The 34 year old Kingston woman has been charged with theft, breach of probation, and breaching conditions of an undertaking.

New Ambulance

A new ambulance is on the road in the Kingston area.

Frontenac Paramedic Services has teamed up with two U-S companies to test the new vehicle.

It looks like other ambulances but has a smaller rear compartment that’s full of new technology.

The biggest difference is a new power lift stretcher.

It means paramedics will no longer have to lift it and hoist it into the ambulance.

The new vehicle is based at the Palace Road station for a 90 day trial period.
