Bank Robbery

Kingston Police are looking for the man who robbed the Scotiabank at Princess and Bath Road.

A man approached a teller in the branch at 863 Princess at 3:40 yesterday afternoon and demanded money.  Police say he was armed with a knife – got a quantity of cash and took off through the parking lot towards Concession Street.  Investigators believe he took off on a bicycle.

A picture of the suspect taken by surveillance video shows a man with a thin build in his late 20’s to early 30’s.  He’s wearing black athletic pants with a white stripe, a red Montreal Canadiens hooded sweater with a large “M” on the front and he’s wearing a black and white ball cap under the hood on the sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about the robbery or suspect is being asked to contact Kingston Police or Crime Stoppers.

17 Year Old Arrested – Sydenham Road Incident

A 17 year old Kingston male has been arrested following the violent break-in early last Thursday morning at a home on Sydenham Road.

The teen was arrested around four yesterday afternoon.

Four men were arrested last Thursday and Friday and face a lengthy list of charges including attempted murder and robbery after a man was stabbed and another man suffered a head injury.

Windows Broken – Mischief Charges

A 37 year old Kingston man has been arrested after windows at three businesses at the Kingston Centre were broken early yesterday morning.

Kingston Police say windows at the Loblaws, Canadian Tire and TD bank were broken around 5:00 a.m. yesterday.

A suspect was arrested last night and he faces three charges of mischief.

Lockdown Over

The lockdown put in place at the medium-security unit at Joyceville Institution following the death of an inmate in his cell on September 17th has ended.

The correctional service says an exceptional search turned up a number of unauthorized items and the institution has resumed its normal operations.

100 Kids Kingston

You may have heard of 100 Women Who Care Kingston.

Now…100 Kids Kingston has been launched to help young people learn more about charitable organizations and connect with other children.

The founders want to attract 100 children from Kindergarten to grade 6.

They’ll attend three one hour meetings a year at the Boys and Girls Club.

They have to be prepared to donate $10 dollars to a local charity.

They will select the charity from nominations posted on their website:

Candidates – Debate

The candidates running in the federal election in Kingston and the Islands will take part in a televised debate tonight sponsored by the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce.

TV Cogeco will broadcast the session featuring the NDP’s Daniel Beals, Conservative Andy Brooke, Liberal Mark Gerretsen and Green candidate Nathan Townend.

It runs from 8 to 9:30 tonight and will be rebroadcast before the October 17th election. Last night…about 400 people attended an all candidates session at St. Lawrence College sponsored by Imagine Kingston.
