KCVI – Memorial Centre

The Mayor and city council are being strongly urged to open a discussion about the Memorial Centre for Kingston’s new high school by two members of the school’s design committee.

Stephanie Howie and Robb Laird have written an open letter to council saying it is an ideal location because of its distance from QECVI and KCVI.

They say it is not too late to discuss the location.

Howie teaches at KC and Laird is a teacher at QE.

They say council has decided the site isn’t on the table without any discussion about how the new high school could benefit the area.

KEDCO

There is more trouble for KEDCO.

Kingston city councillor Adam Candon is furious the economic development agency has a man convicted of environmental crimes as its business ambassador.

George Scott pleaded guilty this week to environmental charges laid against him and his former company, Scott Environmental.

Candon says KEDCO showed a lack of judgment when it appointed Scott because it would have known about the charges.

Acting KEDCO CEO Donna Gillespie says Scott is a volunteer who has a goal of bringing community champions to the table and has been a big booster of Kingston.
