Man Arrested – Domestic

Kingston Police have seized weapons and have arrested a 45 year old man after his ex-wife complained about being threatened and harassed over a long period of time.
Police say the woman opened up to officers after her vehicle was hit by a pickup truck in a west end parking lot around 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
Officers went to a home north of Kingston and seized a rifle, multiple shotguns, a crossbow and ammunition – but didn’t find the man.  He was arrested late Tuesday afternoon…and faces charges of Dangerous Driving, Forcible Entry, three counts of Criminal Harassment, Mischief Under $5,000, Uttering Threats to Cause Death and possession of dangerous weapons.

Warrant – Apple thefts

Police have issued an arrest warrant a 29 year old man from Kingston wanted for stealing Apple computers from Altair Electronics almost two years ago.  They’ve also issued a call for help from the public in finding Colin Smith.  Smith is wanted for breaking into the business on April 13th of 2013.
20 thousand dollars in Apple gear was stolen.
Seven of the eight people involved were arrested three months later after ads for the stolen goods appeared on Kijiji…but Smith took off from Kingston.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Colin Smith is being asked to contact Kingston Police or Crime Stoppers.

Kaladar Youth – Found

A 17 year old who was reported missing in Kaladar has been found in Napanee.
The OPP issued a request for help from the public in locating Matthew Brown yesterday morning.
Police say Brown is safe and was found in Napanee yesterday afternoon.


Health Care Jobs

High school students interested in health care jobs can check out the Health Care Road Show at LaSalle Secondary School today.
Sessions this afternoon and tonight will explain where the jobs are in the local labour market.
The Road show is a cooperative effort between the Limestone District School Board, Kingston Economic Development Corporation, local hospitals and health care providers.

Science Fair

The 44th Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Science Fair takes place today and tomorrow in McArthur Hall at Queen’s.
275 students in grades 5 through 12 at 26 schools in the region are registered to present their science projects.
Five students will win best-of-fair awards and will go on to compete at the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Fredericton, New Brunswick in May.

Epilepsy – Purple Day

The Epilepsy Resource Centre is hoping to paint Kingston purple today.
March 26th is Purple Day…a day the organization uses to help raise awareness about epilepsy.
It includes a social media campaign with people being encouraged to use the hashtag #PurpleNationYGK

Kingston Restaurant – TV Show

A popular Canadian Television show has come to Kingston…again.
The Food Network show – You Gotta Eat Here – was at Diane’s Restaurant last night.
It was a return visit to Kingston for host John Catucci.
He’s already chowed down at Harpers Burger Bar and MLTDWN – the grilled cheese place.

Chamber Meeting

Business leaders in Kingston will be breaking bread during the annual general meeting of the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce today.
The Chamber is celebrating 174 years in business.
Queen’s University Marketing Professor, Ken Wong is the guest speaker at the luncheon today at the Holiday Inn.
The University Hospitals Kingston Foundation will be getting a donation during the meeting.
Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life will announce they’ve pledged $50,000 to the Foundation.
