Kidd – Sentencing

Former assistant fire Chief Robb Kidd will be sentenced on Friday for making and possessing child pornography. Kidd also pleaded guilty last October to voyeurism and committing an indecent act by exposing himself to a minor.
Six of Kidd’s victims gave their victim impact statements to the judge yesterday.
His lawyer is asking for a sentence of time spent in custody and up to three years of probation.
The crown wants a sentence of seven years in prison – minus the 22 months he’s already served.
Kidd was fired from his job with Kingston Fire and Rescue in 2013.
The judge will make her decision on Friday.

Fire – Spontaneous Combustion

A fire that caused 150 thousand dollars damage to a home on Mount Chesney Road early yesterday was caused by the spontaneous combustion of rags used for wood stain.

Kingston Fire and Rescue says working smoke alarms in the home alerted the family at about 2am yesterday.  They were able to call 9-1-1 and get out of the house safely with the family dog.
