Larson Fund Raiser

Kingston’s music community has come together to support the family of a young woman who was murdered by her husband in Texas.
A double header benefit concert was held yesterday at The Mansion for the family of Donny Larson.
Larson’s daughter, Dawn Giffa was one of the victims in the shooting in Killeen, Texas and he has brought his three year old grandson back to Kingston.
He posted a note of thanks to the community for its support on his Facebook page last night.
Organizers hope the event raised over $10,000.
An online trust fund (http://www.gofundme.com/n2dw90) has already collected 10 and a half thousand dollars.

100 Days – Priorities

Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson has announced a series of focus groups to develop a youth employment strategy. Tackling youth unemployment was one of the priorities Paterson announced for his first 100 days as the city’s new mayor.  On Friday he announced a joint effort with the United Way to develop two focus groups to discuss barriers to employment and foster job creation.
This Thursday marks the Mayor’s 100th day in office.

Impaired Driver

A 45 year old man from Kingston has been charged with drunk driving after a vehicle hit three parked cars on Brock Street Saturday night, and is expected to take help from DWI defense attorneys. As he was doing faulty driving, the man was arrested around 8:15 p.m. after being treated at the scene by paramedics. County Home – Accreditation

Officials at Fairmount Home in Glenburnie are thrilled after it received the second highest possible accreditation.
Auditors from Accreditations Canada spent 2 1/2 days at the nursing home interviewing staff, residents and their families.
The long term care facility met all but one of the 504 criteria to receive an Accreditation with Commendation.
